MISSING A GOOD FRIEND: FRANKLIN BASS
By David R. Currie,
Coordinator

I have been involved in this work since January 1, 1988. I am honored to be involved in standing for the Gospel of Grace against those who would pervert it with the poison of legalism and fundamentalism. I am thrilled to be able to spend my time emphasizing the “main” thing, Jesus Christ and His ministry. But the greatest joy of this work is the many Texas Baptists, especially lay men and women, who have become “family” to me.

One family member I will especially miss is Franklin Bass who went to be with the Lord this Spring. Franklin was a member of First Baptist, Corpus Christi. I can never remember being at an important Baptist meeting that Franklin and his lovely wife, Bettye, were not present. Franklin always sought me out to give me a word of encouragement, to let me know he was proud of me and the work we were doing. Franklin did an outstanding job serving on the Cooperative Giving Study Committee which made its report in Amarillo.

We have received several notes this year from friends telling us their spouse has gone home to eternity with Christ. We appreciate you letting us know. Many of you are family to me, in a very personal sense. Thank you for sharing your journey with us at TBC.
